On Friday 07 February, some of the PCO Alliance Members jetted off to Durban for an educational hosted by Riverside Hotel and Misty Blue Group of Hotels. Our airfare was also courtesy of the two hotels on Mango Airlines. The ladies who travelled from OR Tambo International Airport were spoilt with having their pics taken with the pilots in the cockpit!
When we arrived at King Shaka International Airport, we were welcomed by Kevin Wilson, Sales and Marketing Manager of Riverside Hotel who escorted us to the shuttle.
On arrival at the Riverside hotel we were welcomed by friendly staff, glasses of champagne and an efficient check in process. In our well appointed rooms we received a personalised note from the Hotel, as well as chocolates and gorgeous A4 corporate presentation folders embossed with our names on.
The day got better and better and we were spoilt rotten! We were treated to a delicious seafood lunch, after which we were whisked off to a secret destination – Wilson’s Wharf, for an exciting cruise on “Spirit of Elan”, a 48-foot Luxury Power Catamaran. Gary and the crew of Spirit of Elan were very welcoming and knowledgeable of the Durban coast.
Dinner was a delicious – albeit lengthy affair – and we were joined by the Riverside Hotel hosts who interacted with our group and made us all feel very welcome.
After a hearty breakfast on Saturday 08 February we were once again whisked off to another surprise destination arranged by the Riverside Hotel. This was the Virginia airport. Our surprise was a 20 minutes scenic helicopter flight along the Durban coast with Pilot Mark. The safety briefing prior to the flight set us all at ease.
After this wonderful morning, we were met by Sean Dunn, the Banqueting Manager of The Waterfront Hotel & Spa who took us by shuttle to The Waterfront Hotel & Spa where we were to spend the night. In our rooms we were once again welcomed by Ferrero Roche Chocolates and lovely gifts. Our dinner surprise was Moyos on the Pier. We enjoyed pre-dinner drinks before walking to the Cargo Hold for a delicious dinner – with a beautiful backdrop of the shark tank.
On Sunday morning we checked out of The Waterfront Hotel & Spa, and were then transferred to Mabhida Stadium to ride on Segways. What a treat! We enjoyed a great ride along the beach, before heading to The Square Boutique Hotel and Urban Park. At Urban Park we enjoyed delicious waffles with a variety of toppings, before sadly heading back to the airport.
A huge thank you to Riverside Hotel and their suppliers and Misty Blue Hotel Group and their suppliers for hosting us to an exceptional weekend – and to Mango Airline for our flights. The adventure experiences allowed us as PCO’s to be introduced to other attractions and facilities for our clients in Durban. We would most certainly recommend the Sprit of Elan and Legend Aviation team to our valued clients!
