The PCO Alliance Network has always embraced the spirit of Mandela Day by supporting diverse charities and initiatives that align with the values he championed. This year, we are proud to bolster the efforts of Ladles of Love in Johannesburg and Cape Town, as well as the Jes Foord Foundation in Durban.
Ladles of Love works tirelessly to provide nutritious, wholesome food to vulnerable populations—most notably, small children. Their innovative approach includes supporting urban farmers to grow natural, sustainable food and empowering food entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. By fostering local food production, Ladles of Love not only addresses hunger but also creates economic opportunities, strengthening the fabric of our communities.
Jess Foord Foundation, which was founded by Jes Foord, a brave survivor of rape, the Jes Foord Foundation’s mission is rooted in education, awareness, and advocacy to combat South Africa’s alarming rape statistics, which remain among the highest globally. Their comprehensive programs include the Handbag Project, Young Men’s Mentorship, awareness talks, and free trauma counseling—all designed to change attitudes, prevent abuse, and support survivors.
The commitment of our members extends beyond donations. They dedicate their time, effort, and resources to actively support these causes—whether through shopping, visiting sites, or participating in activations. It is both an honor and a privilege to engage personally with these initiatives, making a tangible difference in people’s lives.
