As of 28 February 2019, I will no longer be the Chairperson of the PCO Alliance Network.

From the time I formed the PCO Alliance Network almost 15 years ago, I had goals and ideals and, as the years went by, these were expanded on and were reached.

Once the group had increased substantially and the running of the Alliance became too much for one person, I selected members who I believed were well-suited to take over certain tasks in the day-to-day running of the Alliance, the Executive Committee members.  They were given specific portfolios and these were managed extremely professionally over many years.

When my husband and I relocated to Cape Town in April 2018, I appointed Ellen Oosthuizen as Vice-Chairperson, a decision I never regretted as she managed a large portion of the tasks previously managed by myself.

During the first half of 2018, I also realized that it was time for me to hand over the reins in a manner which would ensure that the PCO Alliance Network would continue to grow and thrive and that I would leave a legacy behind, one which I could be proud of.

I advised Ellen of my decision to resign as Chairperson effective from the end of February and recommended that a Constitution be drafted by ourselves to formalize the PCO Alliance Network to todays’ required laws.  This Constitution was signed by all members today and will be effective from 01 March 2019.

As laid down by the Constitution, all existing Executive Committee members resigned and members subsequently voted for their new Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Treasurer, Secretary and an additional three Executive Committee members.

I would like to thank Ellen for having played such a vital role over these last ten months and for being my sounding board.  She will ensure that the brand which is the PCO Alliance Network, will continue to be one of which we will all be proud.

To all the Executive Committee members who have worked so hard over the past years as well as each and every member, a very big thank you for your support, your enthusiasm and your passion for who we are and what we stand for.  Every one of you will always have a very special part of my heart and were instrumental in my enthusiasm to keep going and growing.

I shall continue as a member of the PCO Alliance Network in my capacity as Consultant to the incoming EXCO and as mentor to each and every member.

It’s been a privilege to have made so many extremely close friends in this family of ours as well as with all the venues and suppliers who have given me and the PCO Alliance Network, their encouragement and their continued support.

I retire as Chairperson, a richer and humbler person whose 34 years as a Professional Conference Organiser all culminated to this.

God bless you all.
